5 Best Brunch Spots in Liverpool

I have a feeling there might just be a few more people around Liverpool over the next couple of weeks, and so, as somebody who has lived in this truly beautiful city for nearly nine years (with a penchant for all things breakfast), it felt only right to share with you some of my favourite places for grabbing some breakfast food should you need it.

So, if you’re here for Eurovision, a little city break or any other reason at all, get yourself down to one or two of these for the best start to your day!

Moose Coffee

I couldn’t not begin this post with Moose Coffee. It’s a Liverpool staple, and a place I take any friend or loved one if they come to visit Liverpool for the first (or second, or third…) time.

It’s famous for it’s American pancakes, but it’s extensive menu offers much, much, more if you’re more inclined towards french toast, waffles, or something more savoury (the Mighty Moose breakfast also gets a high recommendation from me!).

They currently have three locations across Liverpool, but I’d suggest booking in advance if you can - the queue is known to be out the door at busy times (but this only re-enforces just how good their food and coffee is!)

The Third Cafe

The Third Cafe is a little hidden gem just outside of the city centre up on Lark Lane. It serves homemade vegetarian and vegan food, all day breakfast and lunch, and is the perfect, cosy spot to tuck yourself away for an hour or two while you enjoy their excellent food.

I’ve only recently been to The Third Cafe recently when meeting a friend for brunch, but I’m itching to go back. I had their peanut butter on toasted sourdough, with banana, honey and caramelised walnuts, and I’m pretty sure I could’ve demolished a second serving.

I’ve since tried to recreate it at home, but it’s just nowhere near as good as the real thing.

The Third Cafe is a true independent cafe that is absolutely worth your visit, I promise.

The Quarter

Based up in The Georgian Quarter part of town, The Quarter, based up in The Georgian Quarter part of town, is an Italian inspired restaurant with a Parisian feel. If it’s a beautiful day, there is literally nothing better than sipping one of their coffees on the terrace looking out onto the cobbles.

A firm favourite in the city for lunch and dinner, I also love to head up for some breakfast, too. Whether you’re just after something small like a croissant or some granola, something sweet like their berry compote pancakes, or something savoury like their eggs and smashed avo, they have something to suit your every mood.

The staff have always been super friendly and there’s a real chilled atmosphere in here, which is perfect if you’re looking for a slow morning.

Hardware Coffee & Kitchen

Okay, so, Hardware Coffee & Kitchen hasn’t long been open but good god, their food (and coffee!) is good.

We paid a visit a couple of weeks ago and tried their Lotus Biscoff Pancake Stack, which comes complete with Lotus Biscoff spread, crumbled Lotus biscuits, cheesecake mousse, vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. It. Was. So. Good.

It’s the only menu item I can account for (so far!) but if the rest of the food is as good as this was, you’re going to have the best start to your day.

Hardware is walk-in only as they don’t take bookings, so I’d recommend getting round there reasonably early to avoid queuing!

Brasco Lounge

Based right on the beautiful - and historic - Liverpool waterfront, Brasco Lounge was one of the first places I visited when I moved to Liverpool, and somewhere I return to often.

Their coffee is one of my favourites in the city, and their chilled and informal vibe makes for the perfect place to catch up with friends while admiring the view.

The staff here have always gone out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, and they are also dog friendly, offering free dog treats for any four-legged-friends that may also want to visit.
